Day Two at the Seaforth Fall Fair was a blast! There was a lot going on, and many people stopped by our display to talk about Fusion. We set up a table and kept busy painting and chatting with folks all day.
We heard a lot of the same questions over and over, so I’ll answer them here:
Is it chalk paint?
No, Fusion is not chalk paint. Fusion is an acrylic mineral paint that has amazing coverage and a built-in topcoat. Chalk paint must be protected with a topcoat like wax, but Fusion dries to a gorgeous matte finish that needs no top coat at all.
What if you want some sheen or gloss on your piece?
If you prefer to wax your Fusion finish to give it a bit of a sheen, we have wonderful wax with no odour for you to use. We also offer a Tough Coat in two versions, CLEAR, which never yellows, and ANTIQUING, which is a darker finish that adds depth and interest. Tough Coat gives added protection plus a glossy finish.
Is it environmentally friendly?
One of the things I most love about Fusion is the fact that it has VERY LOW (almost NO) VOCs. There is virtually no odour to our products, and I do not get a headache from any of them. The paint cleans up with water! It is safe for kids, safe for pets, and safe for adults, too!
Can you use it outdoors?
Yes! Fusion dries to the touch in about an hour, then hardens to a very durable finish in 21 days. If you are painting outdoor furniture, we recommend covering the furniture with a tarp if it’s raining during the first three weeks after painting. Many people have used Fusion to paint wood or metal doors (we recommend Ultra Grip be applied to metal before the paint, to give that extra adherence factor) and the paint has held up perfectly over the past year. Fusion only came on the market just over a year ago.
You have lovely colours. What if I want something slightly different from what you offer?
Fusion comes in 24 classic colours, with another 7 in the Michael Penney collection. The wonderful thing about Fusion is that any of the colours can be mixed. Fort York Red with a bit of Chocolate Brown makes a lovely Barn Red paint. Liberty and Renfrew Blues, mixed half and half, make a gorgeous Texas Teal. Fort York Red mixed with Homestead Blue yields a stunning Fall Purple. The sky’s the limit. When you come into the store, be sure to ask for a colour chart for you to keep your colour mixes on hand. That way you’ll remember what you mixed to get that new, delicious hue.
How can I learn to do the stencilling and embossing you’ve done here?
Add Some Flair will be offering weekly workshops for our customers. We want to teach you all of the different techniques, so you can create gorgeous pieces for your home, or gifts for your loved ones. Fusion has some amazing products such as Crackle, Transfer Gel, Embossing Paste, Tinting Kits, and Gilding Paste, and we cannot wait to show you how to use it!
Will you have only Evening Workshops?
We plan to begin with evening workshops, but we want to accommodate all of our customers. If there is an interest, we can offer Saturday afternoon workshops as well. Just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let me know what best works for you.
